Thank You Card

Just a quick and easy 'Thank You' card for a 'let's chat over a cuppa' friend of mine.

I used a cut file from Lettering Delights ( Love You A Latte)

I removed the face details on the coffee pot, and decided to cut the 'glass' part of the pot in vellum.
The papers used a from the 'Mosaic Memories Collection' by Recollections. I really like the colours in this paper pack!

I added a flower (to hide the glue needed to keep the vellum from curling up!) and a sequin to add a little understated shine. The zig-zag 'stitched' line is a clear stamp by Bo Bunny- "Stitches Stamps"

Summer - Lighthouse and Ocean Decor

It is a good thing we live by the ocean. I always want to use ocean themed decor in the house for summer and living by the ocean just makes it feel more appropriate to me.

So naturally when it came for making some decor items for a corner table I turned to a cut file set by SVG Cuts. "Seaside" I knew I wanted to make (all!) of the items in this kit, the moment I saw it.

For my version I decided to use rubber stamps to make a 'pattern paper' for the accents on my buildings, while staying with the traditional red, blue and white nautical colours.

The lighthouse keeper's cottage is decorated with stamps by Prima 'Seashore', 'Down By The Seaside' by Inkadinkado and the Graphic 45 'By The Sea' stamp set by Hampton Art. (I got mine at Jo-Anns, but don't see these listed there right now)

The windows are cut from vellum, and since the house is also a box, LED tealight 'candles' can be placed inside to illuminate the cottage.

Shells, made from polymer clay, decorate the front of the house. The blue cardstock  has a linen finish that adds great texture and the panels on the roof are embossed to have a 'tiled roof' look.

For the lighthouse I used the same blue cardstock, stamps and white pigment ink.

More embossed panels at the base of the light house add interest.

While the roof panels are both stamped and embossed. This portion of the lighthouse can hold an LED tealight 'candle' as well. The vellum windows allowing the light to glow through. (hmmm I see I managed to get sea sand onto the lighthouse too. That is from the real shells in the display!)

Here's a look at the new SVG Cuts release :  Spring Blossoms. That spring blossoms pop up card is so very very pretty and the details on the pieces are a feast for the eyes!

Have a great weekend, and happy paper crafting!

Test Mitt 4 - Another beauty!

From not having knitted mittens in 20 odd years, I've done 4 pairs in short succession. I keep thinking that these would make such nice gifts. realistic to make as far as time goes, yet one can personalize it and give something that is really special!

I called these ones 'Blue Lagoon' because that is what this colour reminds me of! Dagmara knitted hers in green so she called her pattern "Green Forest Mitts'

I know I know...the table cloth had not (yet) been ironed, but this picture shows the colour so well! ;-)

The pattern is clear and well written and the pattern repeat is interesting without being complicated. The entire wrist and hand area is patterned and slightly ribbed, so that the mitts fit nice and snug.

Now all that is left for me to do is decide what colour and what pattern to knit for whom...sounds easy, but I know it will be hard to decide!!! Still it should be fun to whip up a few more of these!

Thanks again to Dagmara for letting me test these 4 mitt patterns!

3 D Snowflake - Love Knots

Continuing along with my 3D Snowflake Collection

Love Knots - this flake worked up quite quickly and it is really pretty. It is a little hard to show all the details in a picture, but I think you get the idea.

The resource I use for my flakes can be found HERE

I really need to find a branch or 'mini tree' to hang these on as I build my collection!

Together - 65 Years

That sure is a long time...

I thought the colours in this kit was perfect for these pictures and the laces and florals work so well together too.

I used Lonetta Avelar's "Yesteryear Collection" for my page. The different packs can be purchased individually too.
